THE CULTURAL AND NATURAL WONDERS OF NORWAY & ICELAND

The Kensington Hotel

The 5-Star Kensington Hotel, ideally located at the corner of Queen's Gate and the Old Brompton Road, has an imposing white façade typical of this elegant 19th Century neighbourhood. Home to Victoria & Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum and The Royal Albert Hall, the area is also a much sought after residential neighbourhood. Top stores such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols in nearby Knightsbridge vie with the intimate boutiques, chic restaurants and design stores in the ever fashionable Chelsea, while the open green spaces of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park are but a short stroll away. The ground floor of the hotel is a series of interconnecting Drawing Rooms, with welcoming open fires, large bay windows, and many original features such as the handsome stone staircase. The rooms are individually decorated in an elegant country house style, using sumptuous fabrics, deep upholstery and an eclectic mix of contemporary art and furnishings. The atmosphere is relaxed throughout, with the engaging and innovative service creating the ambiance of a smart private members club.

Dining

The Kensington Hotel Restaurant: Smart, leather chairs, polished wooden floors and chrome chandeliers give the Restaurant a clubby feel, but the food’s the star here. Delicious, modern European dishes created by Head Chef using the freshest seasonal produce, make every meal at the restaurant an absolute pleasure. The Cocktail Bar: The adjoining Cocktail Bar, with its slate floors, distressed mirrors, timber-clad walls and blue glass ceiling, is the domain of award-winning mixologist, Alessandro Pizzoli. From the time-honored classics to something a little more experimental, Pizzoli’s artistry is a delight to behold. And his Cocktail Master Classes are a big draw for business and leisure travellers alike. Afternoon Tea at The Kensington Hotel: Afternoon Tea at The Kensington Hotel is legendary, and makes this leafy corner of SW7 a destination in its own right. With a fragrant array of teas, the menu is a delight, featuring delicious sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream and ‘sweet things’, a list of utterly gorgeous confections from chocolate mousse to millefeuille, bakewell tarts to panna cotta.  Those wishing for a little extra sparkle can order a glass of Moet & Chandon to accompany their Afternoon Tea, which is served in absolute comfort by open fires in the ground floor drawing rooms.
