THE TOP 5 REASONS TO USE A TRAVEL AGENT

Shangri-La Paris

The Shangri-La hotel in Paris is the impressive reinvention of an impressively ornate belle-époque building erected between 1892 and 1896. Napoleon's grand-nephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte, lived in the palace until he died in 1924. The hotel is located between Etoile and Trocadéro and features some of the most superb views of the Eiffel Tower in Paris in over 40% of the rooms. The Guimet Museum of Asian Art, Palais de Tokyo and Musée du Quai Branly are also nearby and very popular among visitors. The styling of the building has been beautifully reworked, from the newly gilded alabaster columns, intricately patterned floors of parquet, inlaid marble and mosaic, and bronze wall reliefs of Napoleon and elaborate wall and ceiling murals - This hotel is a museum in itself. The spa and fitness center is housed in the palace's former stables (also renovated to an impressive standard) and features the largest indoor pool in Paris, saturated with abundant natural light from the wall of glass doors that open into a lush private outdoor terrace. Get a taste of true luxury at the Shangri-La, the likes of which even Prince Roland Bonaparte would have found impressive.

Dining

Shang Palace

The hotel's Shang Palace is recognized as one of the best Chinese restaurants in Paris, and the first to win a Michelin star. The cooking is refined Cantonese and the intricate vegetable dishes and lunchtime dim sum are to die for.

L'Abeille

Also rewarded a Michelin star, the gastronomic French restaurant is called L'Abeille, 'the bee' in French but also a pun on the surname of the chef, Philippe Labbé. The cuisine is exquisitely detailed and unique and icorportates an impressive range of exotic flavors such as white chocolate risotto or pan fried duck foie gras smoked with Cohiba cigar.

La Bauhinia

La Bauhinia is named after the flower on the Hong Kong flag and features breakfast, afternoon tea and lighter lunches and dinners - served under a glass dome.
