Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square
Overlooking one of Edinburgh’s prettiest private garden squares, The Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square — formerly The Roxburghe Hotel — consists of seven inter-connecting Georgian townhouses in the heart of the New Town, a UNESCO world heritage site.
As the newest Principal hotel, it has undergone a multi-million restoration and refurbishment: all of the bedrooms and suites have been given a smart, new look, inspired by the golden age of travel and a genuine sense of Scottish hospitality. Guests familiar with Principal hotels will find familiar touch points, including the red bedside telephone, tuck box of treats and a vintage post box.
The outstanding internal courtyard — an oasis of calm with a glass roof — is open from breakfast through to the wee hours.

Dining
The Garden
At the heart of the hotel, The Garden is a spot where guests can sit back and relax, whatever the time of day or night. This is where you’ll find breakfast being served till 10am (10.30am on weekends and bank holidays); afterward, breakfast is switched out for an all-day menu of salads, sandwiches and so forth, with a drinks menu that’s inspired by botanical infusions, spritzes and toddies.
BABA
Inspired by the flavours of the Eastern Mediterranean, BABA is led by the team behind Glasgow’s award-winning Ox and Finch restaurant and will open in November. A charcoal grill will be the centerpiece of BABA’s open kitchen, where Scottish lamb, beef, and seafood are spiced and grilled – Levantine-style – over coals, side by side with whole cauliflowers and harissa pumpkin.
