Welcome to Hillgrove B&B, where you will be assured of a warm welcome from the proprietors, Margaret and Tony Drennan. Hillgrove is a charming country home, set in mature gardens in a rural area on the outskirts of Kilkenny City. Though less than half a century old, with its creeper clad walls and white columned porch, it has the presence and style of a much older building. The interior is beautifully decorated and attractively furnished with many antiques & special features. Hillgrove is recommended by many travel guides including 'Frommers Ireland', 'Dillard/Causin', 'Hidden Places of Ireland' and the 'Jenny Rees guide'. Margaret is a 'National Breakfast Award' winner and offers an extensive menu to suit all tastes.

Kilkenny City On the Map: Kilkenny City is located in County Kilkenny, in the southeast midlands of Ireland. Kilkenny is well-served by a good network of roads - the M9/N10 from Dublin (to the northeast) and N9/N10 from Waterford City (to the south). Kilkenny, or the Marble City as it is known, is one of Ireland's oldest towns, and proud of it. Its array of ancient buildings is unrivalled. It is renowned for being a vibrant cultural center, devoted to the musical and visual arts. Its two most impressive landmarks are Kilkenny Castle, founded in 1172 and privately owned until 1967, and St. Canice's Cathedral. The current structure of the cathedral dates from the 13th century, though this is nowhere near the beginning of its story, which is rich in folklore and legend. There is no shortage of pubs to explore and enjoy in Kilkenny and during the summer the city is always full of life. The summer also sees the city host an Arts Festival and a very highly regarded Comedy Festival called the Cat Laughs.

Margaret at Hillgrove provides a sumptuous Full Irish Breakfast each morning. A 'Full Irish Breakfast' typically consists of bacon (rashers!), sausages, black & white pudding, eggs, toast, tea or coffee. A selection of cereals, fruit & juices are also available to those who may not wish to start their day with too much salty meat! Margaret offers a particularly extensive breakfast menu, and was recently named as a 'National Breakfast Award' winner.
