Belle Isle Castle

Situated on the northern tip of Upper Lough Erne, Belle Isle is a 470-acre Estate, spread over eight picturesque islands. Inhabited since the 12th century, today the Estate offers an exceptional and unique experience to discerning guests. The Belle Isle Estate has been designated a Special Area of Conservation and the castle itself is a fantastic 17th Century Country House. The strong stone walls, huge solid wood doors and sculptural window surrounds, are encased in a sea of ivy leaves and traditional planting. The sunken garden makes the perfect space for gatherings, impromptu or otherwise. Beyond the castle, a lake view beckons you further into the estate, through grassy banks and wild flowering meadows past rope swings swaying from mature trees. There are a wide range of activities available on the Estate - clay & game shooting, fishing and cruising on Lough Erne, a plethora of wonderful walking trails, and much more.

The Town of Enniskillen (15 minutes from Belle Isle Castle): On the Map: Enniskillen is located almost exactly in the centre of County Fermanagh in the southwest corner of Northern Ireland. The town is well connected via the A4 coming from Sligo town (to the west), and the A4 coming from Belfast (to the east). Enniskillen is the County Town of Fermanagh, and separates the Upper and Lower sections of Lough Erne. The town is home to a population of approximately 11,500, by far the largest settlement in the County. As one would expect, the town is a retail centre for the County, and beyond, but it has yet to succumb to the blandness which infects many modern towns. The town centre is firmly built along the long, narrow Main St, which actually changes name six times along its length! This gives the town a real sense of bustle and life as well as imbuing the shops with their own unique character. There is no new, anonymous, development to be found on the Main Street and the established High Street Stores sit comfortably beside small independent traders, creating a special atmosphere for the place. A feature of Enniskillen which is becoming increasingly unusual is the number of small bars and hostelries which appear on the Main Street, providing welcome relief from the shops!

No two guests are the same and similarly each and every room at Belle Isle Castle has its own unique style and personality. From the Garden Room with its four poster bed and astonishing view across the estate, to the Ivy Room furnished with antique dressers and striking decorative wallpaper. Every room has a private, en-suite bathroom, which has been tastefully decorated to the highest of standards. Walls are decorated with regal patterned wallpaper or painted in vintage burgundy, terracotta or vibrant yellow. Some Guestrooms feature exposed oak beams & 4-poster beds.

Belle Isle Castle has been hosting events since 1760, and knows a thing or two about hospitality! The heart of any castle is the banqueting hall, and at Belle Isle Castle you will be welcomed into a large atmospheric room recently restored to its former glory. An open fire sits opposite huge floor-to-ceiling windows bathing the room in natural light. Above, a minstrel's gallery uses natural acoustics to flood the room with traditional music.
