Annes Grove Miniature Castle

Annes Grove is a charming and historic Gate Lodge. It was constructed in Gothic style - the building being a medieval castle in miniature. The silence which surrounds this rural property is part of the charm for guests. Beyond the gate, in the privacy of a small garden, you can enjoy great peace and tranquility - this is an intensely romantic building! Annes Grove was designed by Benjamin Woodward, of the distinguished firm of architects, Deane and Woodward, in 1849. It's purpose?: To impress visitors to the main house - Annesgrove House and Gardens! Since Woodward designed only two Gate Lodges of this type, it is of some architectural importance. Annes Grove is situated at the junction of three quiet country roads and surrounded by mature beech trees & traditional stone walls, which cradle the property. Inside, timber ceilings, wood floors, stone arches, and snug rooms make this property an idyllic setting for those looking for those looking to celebrate romance and each other.

Castletownroche Village: On The Map: Castletownroche is located in the centre of County Cork, in the south of Ireland. The Village is easily accessed from the main M8 Motorway (connecting Dublin & Cork Cities) at Fermoy - just 15 kilometres east of Castletownroche. Castletownroche has a rich and varied history. The first records of the town date from the late 1200s, when a fortress was established by the Roache family. It is from their family name and the castle they built that the town's current name was derived. The castle is currently private owned and called Blackwater Castle. Castletownroche is located in a picturesque area, adjacent to the Awbeg River. it is a beautifully kept village, and recent winner in Ireland's annual Today Towns competition. An old mill is currently being restored and once completed will house craft-workers. Bridgetown Priory or Abbey, was founded by Augustinian monks in the 13th century. Bridgetown has a cloister, kitchens, refectory, chapter house and church. Its ruins, now extensively restored, are open to visitors all year around. An interpretive sign from the ‘Stories from the River of Time’ Heritage Trail is located at the entrance laneway to Bridgetown.

Annes Grove Miniature Castle is your own personal 1-bedroomed romantic retreat. There will be no other guests or a management presence during your stay, and therefore no meals are included or supplied. The Lodge has a Kitchen area with cooker, fridge & microwave, so it is perfectly possible to prepare your own meals. A selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes are available within a few miles of the Lodge in the villages of Castletownroche, Mallow & Fermoy.
