Royal Hotel
The Royal Hotel Stornoway is situated just a few steps from the town center, directly opposite the yacht marina. The Royal Hotel is equally enjoyable for holiday visitors to the Outer Hebrides, many of whom delight in the views over the marina to the castle and its surrounding parkland. The hotel has 24 renovated bedrooms, all with bath and/or shower, free wi-fi and room service during lunch and dinner periods.
Outside you’re only a short stroll away from a footpath leading into paths and cycle tracks among the several square miles of wooded parklands and golf course that surround Lews Castle. On the doorstep of the hotel, Stornoway has a wide range of facilities, including an interesting range of independent shops, harbors and the contemporary arts center, An Lanntair.
Rooms & Amenities
As you might expect in a 150-year-old hotel, there is a wide variation in rooms sizes and aspects, however all of the guest rooms at the Royal Hotel are comfortable, spacious, and clean.
During a recent refurbishment program, including external conservation work, all of the front-facing guest rooms were renovated in a traditional style that is in keeping with the historic setting.
Dining
Dining is a special pleasure in the traditional and informal Boatshed restaurant. Here the head chef is well known and much appreciated for his artistic creation of contemporary dishes that make the most of local Scottish produce. For even more casual dining – or for a coffee, a drink or just a quick snack, the HS-1 Cafe Bar is a favorite with local residents as well as many of our hotel guests.
A full Scottish, continental, or choice of alternative breakfast specialties is offered each morning.
