This morning, you’ll cross into England to begin your exploration of the fascinating and scenic eastern region of this enchanting country. Your first stop? Alnwick Castle – the majestic home of the Duke of Northumberland. You'll admire some of the rooms that featured in Downton Abbey and enjoy free time to wander the serene gardens. Then, continue on to Durham, where you’ll step inside the magnificent Norman-style Cathedral, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After your visit, you'll travel to the North York Moors, where this evening you'll gather with your group for an included dinner. Breakfast and dinner included.

The Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St Cuthbert of Durham, commonly known as Durham Cathedral and home of the Shrine of St Cuthbert, is a cathedral in the city of Durham, England. It is the seat of the Bishop of Durham, the fourth-ranked bishop in the Church of England hierarchy. the cathedral was built between the years 1093 and 1133 with additions were added until 1490. The Cathedral contains some of the UK's most intact surviving monastic buildings.

This morning, you’ll step back into the Middle Ages with a visit to the delightful medieval city of York. Wander the mystery-filled narrow streets—known as ‘Snickelways’—and explore the timber-framed buildings of the famed Shambles, where photo opportunities abound! Enjoy free time to soak up the city’s splendour and perhaps settle in for lunch at a cosy pub or local bistro. Later, you’ll continue to your accommodation on the edge of the breathtaking Peak District, where the evening is yours to enjoy as you wish. Breakfast included.

On the Map: Buxton is a spa town in the Borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, England. It is England's highest market town at some 1,000 feet above sea level. It lies close to Cheshire to the west and Staffordshire to the south on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

Elegant Buxton has been welcoming visitors to enjoy its natural thermal springs and superb setting 300 metres above sea level since Roman times. Known then as Aquae Arnemetiae, or the Spa of the Goddess of the Grove, its fortunes are currently reviving thanks to the restoration of The Crescent hotel and spa.

This morning, you’ll begin with a visit to Eyam, where you’ll learn the tragic story of the villagers who fell victim to the plague in the 1600s. Then, it’s time to stretch your legs with a stroll around Chatsworth House—a grand stately home said to have inspired Jane Austen with its impressive architecture. In fact, Chatsworth featured as Pemberley, the home of Mr Darcy, in Pride and Prejudice. You’ll enjoy an audio tour of the lavish apartments and have free time to wander the exquisite gardens before returning to the Peak District for a relaxed afternoon of exploring at your leisure. On The Map: The Peak District National Park is located in Central England, just southeast of Mancheser and west of Sheffield.

The Peak District National Park became the first designated national park in the UK in 1951. Given its close proximity to the mnajor cities of Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield, the park attracts millions of visitors each year. The park encompasses an area rich in culture and natural diversity - from the northern moorlands around Dark Peak, to the southern limestone region around White Peak. The park is a walker's paradise, boasting a very extensive network of footpaths and trails. Gritstone peaks such as Stanage Edge and The Roaches, are universally recognized as some of the best rock-climbing locations in the world. Potholing in the Park's many caves, mines and caverns is very popular, and watersports abound on the Park's larger bodies of water. Beyond the wonderful rolling-hill scenery, the Park has much to offer visitors, whether just passing through, or staying for multiple days. Bakewell is the largest town within the Park's boundaries, and its charming arched bridge dates from the 13th century. There’s time for one more behind-the-scenes experience today as you delve into England’s sporting heritage at Newmarket National Stud. On a guided tour of this working Thoroughbred stud farm, you’ll gain unique insight into Thoroughbred breeding and may even have the chance to see some of the stud’s powerful stallions in the paddocks.
