Moorilla Winery 'Posh As' Day at MONA

Hobart, Australia

Your 8 hour tour comences from Hobart to MONA, on a high speed ferry. You’ll be travelling in style in the ferry’s Posh Pit, which includes complimentary Moorilla wine, Moo Brew beer, canapés and a private deck (ferry departs Hobart at 9.30am). Arriving at MONA, begin your exploration of the underground galleries (entry is included). At 11.30am, Moorilla’s Wine Ambassador—a bone fide expert in all things wine—will take you on a private, behind the scenes tour of the Moorilla winery and vineyard. You will have the opportunity to taste the wine as it is being made and delve into the backstory of Moorilla. Enjoy an exclusive tasting of the best wines from Moorilla’s Cloth Label and Muse Series in the moody and glamourous surrounds of the subterranean tasting room. After lunch (included) the rest of the afternoon is yours to see the rest of the museum before heading back to Hobart on the ferry at 5.00pm. Make your own way to your Hobart accommodation.

On the Map: Located just up the River Derwent from Hobart, the MONA - Museum of Old and New Art - gives a creative twist to the name museum. The museum showcases the highlights of David Walsh’s $110m private collection of art and antiquities. The general collection includes controversial displays such as The Secret Machine and “Stuff David Bought When He Was Drunk”. Limited time exhibitions include Jane Baker’s “The Inward Eye - A Psychoacoustic Journey” - which takes you down the rabbit hole of the experience of dementia - and “The Hound in the Hunt”, a display that explores the use of mirrors to paint realistic pictures. The MONA isn’t just home to art exhibits, it is also home to the Moorilla Winery, Source Restaurant, bars, a cafe, and accommodation pavilions - making it a unique place to discover modern art.

Tasman Wilderness Cruise & Port Arthur

This is the ultimate Tasman Peninsula day tour.  Your day includes return guided bus tour from Hobart, an award-winning 3 Hour Cruise, morning tea and lunch as part of three hours at the Port Arthur Historic Site.

On the award-winning 3 hour wilderness cruise along the spectacular coastline between Port Arthur and Eaglehawk Neck. Cruise beneath the highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere and explore the deep sea caves and archways along the coast. Come face to face with wildlife including seals, dolphins, whales and sea birds.

Departs Hobart at 7:45am, returns at 6pm

Port Arthur Historic Site, Australia

On the map: Port Arthur Historic Site is a former convict settlement located in Port Arthur, Tasmania. The site is roughly 95 km (59 miles) southeast of Hobart. 

Located about an hour south of Hobart, Port Arthur is a Unesco World Heritage-listed convict site and one of Tasmania’s top attractions. The site once housed hundreds of convicts from England and served as a penal colony. The site takes up a large piece of land on the Tasman Peninsula and is made up of several buildings including: the Separate Prison, built to punish prisoners through isolation; the penitentiary, originally a granary; and the shell of Broad Arrow Cafe, the scene of the 1996 Port Arthur massacre - now a memorial garden. Downstairs (inside the main entrance) visitors can follow the convicts’ journey from England to Tasmania in an interpretative gallery. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the guided introductory walking tour and the 25-minute harbour cruise - both included in the site entry ticket.

Tasman National Park, Australia

On the map: Tasman National Park, known for its unique rock formations, is located in Australia’s Tasmanian state. The Park is roughly 100 km (62 miles) southeast of Hobart. 

Situated on the rugged Tasman Peninsula, the Tasman National Park is famous for its towering sea cliffs and stunning rock formations. Much like the other national parks in Tasmania, Tasman is known for its wildlife - specifically marine wildlife. Visitors will have multiple opportunities to spot Australian fur seals, penguins, dolphins, and migrating whales. The park is also home to endangered animals such as the swift parrot and wedge-tailed eagles. Due to its location, this park has a wide variety of recreation options including: boating and fishing in the Tasman Sea, hang gliding at Pirates Bay, rock climbing on sea stacks, and walking the Three Capes Track (a multi-day walking experience). While many of the smaller bushwalks are a popular way to reach lookouts with stunning views, visitors can even access some of the famed lookouts by car (Tasman Arch and the Blowhole).

The park sits on Freycinet Peninsula on the eastern side of the state and features access to bright, pristine waters and numerous walking paths. Freycinet is well-known for being home to Wineglass Bay - one of the top 10 beaches in the world. For those more interested in spotting wildlife than lounging on the beach, Moulting Lagoon is the place to be. Moulting Lagoon is a RAMSAR wetland sanctuary, aimed at protecting many bird species including: black swans, white-bellied sea-eagles, waterfowl, and other migratory birds. Stop by the visitor center at the park entrance to learn more about this stunning area and its animal residents. 

Coles Bay to Schouten Passage, Australia

Today you will begin your Freycinet Experience Walk, a four-day immersion into one of the most stunning coastal wilderness areas on Earth. You will begin with a pick up from your location in Hobart.

After travelling from Hobart you arrive at Coles Bay where you will board a boat to see Schouten Passage (weather permitting) and land at Schouten Island. After lunch, walk up Bear Hill for magnificent views. Return to Coles Bay by boat and onto Friendly Beaches Lodge at the end of the day.

Take a peaceful walk from Bryan’s Beach through sclerophyll forests and along beaches. Or, take the more challenging walk to the top of Mt Graham, descending to Wineglass Bay via spectacular Quartzite Ridge. Both walking groups meet on this iconic beach and walk out together before returning to the lodge.

Explore the fascinating geology of White Water Wall and Little Bluestone Bay, and climb to the Bluestone Bay cliff tops. Walk back over a track used by the ancient Oyster Bay Tribe. This is a private trail so you won't see other people on this very special day.
