After two nights in Oslo, your journey continues to Myrdal, where you will board the historical mountain train of Flåmsbana - considered to be one of the most breathtaking train routes in the world.
The train will take you to the village of Flåm, which sits on the shore of Nærøyfjord, for your overnight stay complete with stunning views. Before you continue on to Bergen, you will be treated to a mini cruise through Sognefjord - Norway’s longest and steepest fjord. Once in Bergen, your guide will take you on a city tour, hitting famous landmarks such as Bryggen Pier and the Trollhaugen Museum. After a full day of leisure in the city of Bergen, your tour wraps up with a scenic road trip along the Hardangerfjord, an overnight stay in Kinsarvik (which sits on the edge of the fjord), and a half day of leisure in Oslo.
With the perfect balance of untouched landscapes and major Norwegian cities, this tour is sure to delight every type of traveler.
1 NightFretheim Hotel
Fretheim Hotel is a first-class hotel close to the Flåmsbana railway and the idyllic Sognefjord. A perfect starting point for cycling trips along Rallarvegen (the Navvies road), walks in the valleys of Flåmdalen and Aurlandsdalen and boat trips on the Sognefjord.
The hotel offers several room categories — from standard rooms and rooms with a balcony and a view to the 17 historical rooms located in the original farmhouse building, where guests can enjoy the unique opportunity of experiencing a now lost grand era. The rooms are filled with antiques, bathtubs with lion feet and pull chain toilets.
There are plenty of opportunities for a unique experiences in the surrounding area. The hotel restaurant has views of the mountains and fjord, and our food is made from local, short-distance produce.
Historical Fretheim Hotel has many and long traditions, and today’s building shows the adaption from the hotel’s beginning until today. The newest part of the hotel was completed in the year 2000 and a glass facade links the new part with the historical part from 1870 – 1970.
Fretheim Hotel in Flåm features 122 charming guestrooms offering nice views of the surrounding fjord landscape and most of them facing the Aurlandsfjord. Almost all rooms are carpet-free and reflect different periods in the hotel's history from 1870 to the present.
Fretheim Hotel has a green guideline when it comes to taking care of nature, culture and the environment, and sources much of the produce from nearby farms. Local food has always been served at the hotel, which is no surprise, with some of the best producers of cheese, meat, fruits, and vegetables right outside the door.
At Fretheim Hotel's main restaurant, you can enjoy an amazing culinary experience with a magical view. Restaurant Arven is located on the first floor and boasts amazing views of the beautiful fjord landscape.
The historical Fretheim Hotel is centrally located in the western region of Norway, where the Sognefjord ends and the Flam Railway starts. The activities are “endless” in this part of Norway — Hiking the Navvies road (Rallarvegen), paddle the Sognefjord, walks in the Aurland- and/or Flåm valley or a ride on a RIB boat to see the UNESCO’s world heritage area are only some of the highlights.

"Ireland Vacation"Mar 2, 2020
What an amazing trip! Michelle was amazing at assisting in the planning. Our hotels were amazing. The recommended itinerary suited exactly what my family and I wanted to experience on our trip to Ireland. I would definitely utilize Authentic Vacations again!
"Driving through history"Jan 27, 2020
We had an excellent trip. Absolutely no problems with bookings that Donna arranged. Driving Ireland and seeing it at your own pace lets you stop to admire ruins not normally on a tour. Only thing we would do differently is upgrade the car. As someone who enjoys driving I regret not having something a little more sporty!
"Christmas in Ireland"Jan 8, 2020
We talked to Lainie about what we were looking for. She listened to our wishes offering suggestion and developed our plan. We got exactly what we were looking for. Made sure we were happy and answering a million questions. We couldn’t be happier. Thank you Lainie !
"An epic solo road trip!"Jan 8, 2020
Just want to say a big thank you to Anna Wilgenbursch for all her help and patience in supporting my free and easy solo road trip across Ireland, chasing writers poets and thin places. The bed and breakfast choices were fantastic. I don't usually go through an agent to help with booking accommodation etc. but I had little to do so myself so am glad that I had Anna to take that load off me. I appreciate too that Anna was on WhatsApp with me and very responsive. I felt very supported. Thank you.
