Enjoy a full day tour from Hobart, spending a day on Bruny Island including 3 hour cruise. Cruise alongside some of Australia's highest sea cliffs, beneath towering crags and drift up close to listen to the awesome 'Breathing Rock'. Fairy Penguins at Dusk

Bicheno, Australia

Enjoy a one hour eco - tour at dusk to see penguins up close and safely without disturbing them.

In 1992 the colonly had been reduced to 30 birds due to feral cats and local dogs, now as many as 600 birds come ashore at the peak of the season, and year round there is a continuing presence. This tour and conservation effort began with two local surfers with a love for nature and a philosophy that nature needs only a little help to deliver the best of both worlds.

Richmond, Tasmania

On the map: Richmond is a picture-perfect town in the heart of the Coal River Valley wine region that tells the story of an early Australian colonial village. This is the perfect place to learn about Tasmania's past and can be as easy as a stroll down the pretty nineteenth-century streets.

Within Richmond, you'll find more than 50 Georgian buildings, many of which have been beautifully restored and now operate as cafes, restaurants, galleries, and accommodation.

Popular landmarks are the Richmond Bridge (the oldest bridge in Australia), the Richmond Gaol (also the oldest gaol in Australia), and the Hobart Town Historical Model Village where you can learn about the life of settlers in Hobart in the 1820s.

Bicheno, Australia

Bicheno is a beloved town with lots to see and do.Located north of the Freycinet Peninsula, Bicheno sits on Tasmania's beautiful east coast. Offshore, the Governor Island Marine Reserve has some of the best diving spots in Australia, with kelp-covered reefs and spectacular sponge gardens. This water wonderland can also be experienced by glass-bottomed boat. There's plenty to do on dry land as well, with popular penguin tours that let you get up close - really close - to fairy penguins at dusk and scenic walks to Rocking Rock, the Blowhole and along the sandbar to Diamond Island Nature Reserve.

Wineglass Bay Cruise (Vista Lounge)

Freycinet National Park, Australia

Discover a coast dotted with sparkling white sand beaches, on your 4.5 hour cruise, including Cooks and Bryans beaches, only accessible by water or a full day bushwalk. Explore the inner passage of remote Schouten Island, home to little penguins and short tailed shearwaters, before heading into the Tasman Sea towards Wineglass Bay. Look out for various hidden sea caves, blowholes and waterfalls amongst the sheer granite cliffs. Take in the sheer beauty of Wineglass Bay from the rarely seen perspective of the water, a shimmering crescent of white sand fringes spilling into glassy turquoise waters. Uncover the rich history of the region, including aboriginal heritage and tales of early explorers and entrepreneurs. The waters surrounding Freycinet National Park are home to diverse and remarkable wildlife. Keep a look out for sea eagles roosting on the granite cliffs, pods of dolphins surfing the bow wave and cormorants manning the crags of Schouten Passage plus Australian fur seals hauling out along the coast. Cape Tourville Lighthouse, Australia

Take a short walk to the Cape Tourville Lighthouse, one of the easiest, shortest walks in the Freycinet Pensinsula. You will enjoy spectacular views as you walk along the boardwalk leading to the lighthouse on this 20 minutes walk.

Wineglass Bay Lookout Walk, Australia

Wineglass Bay is one of the most iconic beaches in Tasmania and Australia! Embark on a short 1.5 hour walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout. 

The walk commences from the carpark of the National Park, and is a 1.3 km ascent up a loose gravel track. While not a long walk, the track is steep at times, and winds its way to a rocky lookout, perched between the twin peaks of The Hazards. The dynamic curve of the bay is amplified by the vantage of the lookout. Return time is about 1-1.5 hours.

If you wish to explore further from the lookout, the Wineglass Bay Track descends slowly to the sparkling blue waters and white sands of the beach. A walk to the south end of the beach takes about 20-30 minutes, and is rewarded by a striking view across Wineglass Bay to The Hazards. Return to the carpark via the lookout, total time is about 2-3 hours.

Freycinet National Park, Australia

On the Map: Freycinet National Park, known for its granite peaks and Wineglass Bay, is located on the east coast of Australia’s Tasmanian state. The park is roughly 167 km (104 miles) northeast of Hobart and 149 km (93 miles) southeast of Launceston. 

Home to dramatic pink granite peaks, secluded bays, and white sandy beaches, Freycinet National Park is a must-see for those traveling to Tasmania. The park sits on Freycinet Peninsula on the eastern side of the state and features access to bright, pristine waters and numerous walking paths. Freycinet is well-known for being home to Wineglass Bay - one of the top 10 beaches in the world. For those more interested in spotting wildlife than lounging on the beach, Moulting Lagoon is the place to be. Moulting Lagoon is a RAMSAR wetland sanctuary, aimed at protecting many bird species including: black swans, white-bellied sea-eagles, waterfowl, and other migratory birds. Stop by the visitor center at the park entrance to learn more about this stunning area and its animal residents.

You can choose from three different Mole Creek Caves tours, each lasting 45 minutes. Enjoy the wonderful scenery and learn all about this fascinating and uniquely fragile world. You will see amazing creatures, such as the Tasmanian Cave Spider, that have evolved and adapted to living and surviving in this incredible place without light, many unique to Mole Creek Caves and not found anywhere else in the world.

Launceston, Australia

On the Map: Launceston, Tasmania’s second-largest city, is located on the northern side of the island. The city is roughly 200 km (124 miles) north of Hobart and 244 km (152 miles) northeast of Queenstown.

Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, Australia

On the Map: Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, known for its protected rainforests and untouched mountains, is located in Australia’s Tasmanian state. The park is roughly 142 km (88 miles) west of Launceston and 174 km (108 miles) northwest of Hobart. 

Known for being home to the world-famous Overland Track - a 40-mile hiking track from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair - Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is a must-see for those traveling to Tasmania. The park covers diverse vegetation including grassland, rainforest, and a wide variety of ancient plants. It also plays host to some unique Australian animals such as Tasmanian devils, quolls, platypuses, and echidnas. While the Overland Track is quite popular, it takes about 6 days to complete, making it a difficult accomplishment for those looking to spend only a few days on this island state. Adventurists who do not have time to complete the full Overland Track are encouraged to try out one of the many other walking trails in the park. The Cradle Valley area of the park is filled with numerous Aboriginal historic sites that are well worth visiting - these can be accessed from the Aboriginal Cultural Walk that begins at Lake St Clair.

Dove Lake Walk

Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, Australia

Your 3 hour walking tour will visit the Glacier rock. These rocks have left remnants of the movement from a glacier during the last ice age. You will then walk around the trail to various view points and points of interest. Your guide will stop and discuss the plants, flowers and the various nomenclature of the area. Along the walk at the southern end of Dove Lake, you will enter the Ballroom Forest, a cool temperate rainforest, with ancient myrtle beech trees covered in moss from the ground up. Next descend into the King Billy Pine Boat Shed, which was constructed by a Ranger of the Cradle Mountain National Park Service in 1940. From this point, the views across the lake to Cradle Mountain are very special. A short stroll from the boat shed brings you back to the start of the walk at Dove Lake carpark.

Kunanyi (Mount Wellington), Australia

On the map: Kunanyi (also known as Mount Wellington) is a stunning nature reserve located in Australia’s Tasmanian state. The reserve is roughly 20 km (12 miles) west of Hobart. 

Only a short 20-minute drive from Hobart, Kunanyi Reserve (commonly known as Mount Wellington), has a beautiful summit featuring panoramic views of Hobart, Bruny Island, South Arm, and the Tasman Peninsula. The summit also features an interpretation center, which protects visitors from the blustering winds, and an open viewing platform that looks out to the World Heritage Wilderness Area. The cliffs here are perfect for rock climbing and abseiling - great options for adventurists looking to explore the mountain. The Wellington Range offers horseback riders and mountain bikers a place to enjoy the reserve. With plenty to do and see, Kunanyi is the perfect day-trip destination. 

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, Australia

Bonorong is a Sanctuary for wildlife run by a passionate team of like-minded people. Open daily from 9am to 5pm with free with entry guided tours at 11:30am, 2pm and 3:30pm.

A visit to Bonorong is a chance to come closer than ever to something wild and fragile. You’ll come face to face with animals that went extinct long ago in other parts of Australia — the same animals the sanctuary is working hard to protect now. You’ll encounter free-roaming kangaroos who are always keen for a good scratch on the chest and some gentle hand feeding (roo food included with entry).

As the capital of Tasmania - and the second oldest capital in Australia, after Sydney - Hobart is a must-see for those traveling to this remote island state. The city sits at the foothills of Mt. Wellington and is surrounded by well-preserved bushland, giving it a wilderness oasis vibe. Head to Salamanca Place - a short walk from the waterfront - to enjoy its galleries, theaters, craft shops and restaurants (all set in 1830s Georgian warehouses). On Saturdays, Salamanca Place hosts Salamanca Market, Australia’s best outdoor market.  Explore the contrast of elegant sandstone buildings and modern architecture as you make your way throughout the city. Hobart is well-known for its art scene including the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and the world-famous MONA (a unique modern art experience). Be sure to check out the many nearby landmarks such as the Port Arthur Historic Site and the Tasman Peninsula.
